  • Rebecca Rickwood

    Chief Executive, Gement - UK

    Rebecca Rickwood is the Chief Executive of Gement and one of three directors of A3CM - The Association of Alkali Activated Cementitious Materials. Rebecca gained a 1st class honours degree in chemistry from Queen Mary University of London, where her research focused on the atomic structure of geopolymer cement. She later gained funding and was able to deliver her work on a larger scale. As part of her work at A3CM, Rebecca sits on the B/517/1 BSI (British Standards Institution) committee which aims to produce a set of standards to introduce AACM's (alkali-activated cementitious materials) into the concrete market.

    Passionate about giving back to the industry Rebecca is leading the way forward for women to get involved in construction and is a champion of females in the industry. Rebecca has spoken at many conferences including UK Construction Week and Digital Construction Week - she has also been nominated for a range of awards including UKCW Role Model, Santander Entrepreneur and Female CEO 2022.

  • Lionel A. Lemay

    Executive VP, Structures and Sustainability, NRMCA - USA

    Mr. Lemay is the Executive VP, Structures and Sustainability for the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association (NRMCA). He leads a team of professionals to offer building owners and designers cost effective, durable and sustainable concrete building solutions through education, research and design assistance He has written many articles and books on concrete design and construction. He is a Registered Professional Engineer and Structural Engineer in the State of Illinois. He is also a LEED Accredited Professional. Mr. Lemay holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in civil engineering from McGill University in Montreal, Canada.

  • Michael Wymant

    VP Building Innovation, NRMCA - USA

    Michael Wymant is National Ready Mix Concrete Association’s VP, Building Innovation. Based in Pensacola, Florida he has been a pragmatic leader in the sustainable building industry for over 20 years, addressing issues including operations and construction addressing sustainable long term solutions for buildings.

    Michael works with the NRMCA’s Low‐ to Mid‐Rise Building Program – Build with Strength; Identifying key legislative, regulatory and business issues of importance to the ready mixed concrete industry and engage and educate decision makers to seek beneficial outcomes. Earlier in his career, Michael was the director of energy and sustainability with a real estate management firm; managing a team of building performance specialists. He has also been a faculty member of the Green Building Council since 2007 and has worked extensively across the United States and Canada as a project manager and consultant in the sustainable real estate field. Michael has a Master’s in Environment and Business from University of Waterloo and a Masters Certificate in real estate from Northwestern University. He is a LEED AP+ in Building Design and Construction and Operations and Maintenance.

  • Haidar Alhaidary

    Project Executive, Middle East Engineering Technologies (MEET) - UAE

    Haidar Alhaidary has conducted research in concrete and sustainability at the American University of Sharjah, served as a structural engineer and technical officer at Ginco Contracting Sharjah and is currently the Project Executive at the Middle East Engineering Technologies (MEET) where he seeks to bring 3D concrete printing into the construction field. He also facilitates The Construction Hub at the Sharjah Research Technology and Innovation Park and is a founding member of the ACI UAE 3D Concrete Printing Committee.

  • Andreas Gerdes

    Professor, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology - Germany

    Prof Andreas Gerdes was born in 1962, studied Chemistry at the TU Clausthal from 1983-1990. He was the Head of the Laboratory for Construction Chemistry in the Institute for Building Materials of the ETH Zürich from 1990 to 2001. In November 2001, He started a position as Head of the Division “Chemistry of Mineral Surfaces” in the Institute for Functional Surfaces (IFG) at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). Since October 2002 also Professor for Construction Chemistry (W3) at the University of Applied Science Karlsruhe. Head of the Institute for Prevention in Construction at the University of Applied Science Karlsruhe since August 2009. Co-founder and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of IONYS AG (2008), a spin-off company of KIT and the University of Applied Sciences Karlsruhe. Since 2016 Scientific Director of the KIT Innovation Hub “Prevention in Construction”, an Innovation Lab of the Helmholtz Association.

    His Research Activities include: Prevention in Construction, Polymer-based and mineral-based Surface Protection Systems, Durability of cement-based materials and Computer-based development of construction chemicals.

  • Emad Abu-Aisheh

    Engineering Specialist, Saudi Aramco - KSA

    Dr. Emad Abu-Aisheh joined Saudi Aramco in Feb 2009 as structural and civil materials specialist within Consulting Services Department. He served as the onshore structural standards committee vice chairman and member of the civil engineering standards committee and the vibration & dynamic analysis committee. Prior to joining Saudi Aramco, he was leading the concrete technology and structural dynamics unit of WorleyParsons, Perth, Australia. He served as lecturer and research scientist at the University of Melbourne, Curtin University Australia, Virginia Tech in the USA and Higher Colleges of Technology, UAE. He has over 30 years’ experience split between academia, research and industry.

    Emad specialty fields include: sustainability, durability, green buildings & construction, concrete technology, structural & structural dynamics, repair and waterproofing of concrete structures, Liquid retaining structures, Modal testing of Civil Structures, structural assessment and health monitoring, NDT and Finite Element Modelling.

    Emad received his B.S. and M.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Mississippi, USA and his PhD. in Civil Engineering from the University of Melbourne, Australia. Emad has over 50 world class publications and over 70 technical engineering reports in the areas of structural health monitoring, Durability, concrete technology and NDT. He is a board member of Saudi Eastern Chapter of the American Concrete Institute and also a Fellow and Chartered of Engineers Australia, and Jordan Engineering Association.

  • Faez Sayahi

    Founder and CEO of CENTICON group AB and Development Engineer, LKAB - Sweden

    Dr. Faez Sayahi is an expert in building materials with specialization in concrete and construction technology. More than 9 years of academic and industrial experience in the field. Specialized particularly in product development, mix design, concrete cracking, FRC, and admixtures. Motivated dam engineer with focus on FEM analysis and numerical modelling, digital twins. Member in many Swedish, European, and international research and standardization organization with a vast contact network around the world.

    He is also a researcher at Luleå University of Technology (LTU), founder and CEO of his private consulting and technology company. He is also working in joint R&D projects between LKAB and LTU.

  • James Aldred

    Technical Director – Concrete Future and Adj. Assoc. Professor – UNSW

    Dr. James Aldred has over 40 years’ experience in the concrete industry. His background includes Technical Director of an international admixtures company, Manager of the High Performance Concrete Research Group at the National University of Singapore, Technical Manager of Taywood Engineering and Honorary Research Fellow at Imperial College. James was the Independent Verifier for the Burj Khalifa in Dubai which is the world’s tallest tower. He is Technical Director with Concrete Future and AECOM (casual) as well as an Adjunct Associate Professor with the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of New South Wales.

    James obtained his Bachelor degree from Sydney University, MEng from the National University of Singapore and PhD from Curtin University. He is a Chartered Professional Engineer and a Fellow of the Institute of Engineers Australia. He is a Fellow of the American Concrete Institute and member of various technical committees. He a Fellow of the Institute of Concrete Technology in the UK. He has received the Award of Excellence from Concrete Institute of Australia and Award for Outstanding and Sustained Contributions to Concrete Technology by ACI International Conferences and the prestigious George Stephenson Medal from Institute of Civil Engineers.

  • Sophia Hamed Kazim

    Principal Products Conformity Officer, Dubai Municipality-UAE

    Sophia is a Principal Products Conformity Officer in Dubai Municipality. She has 14 years of experience working in Dubai Municipality – Dubai Central Laboratory with various roles and responsibilities of which the last 2 years in the certification section and being involved in the products conformity, certification and quality control as well auditing of building materials’ factories and processes.

  • Ashley Bryan

    Operations Director, Emirates RDF-UAE

    Ashley Bryan is presently working as the Operations Director of Emirates RDF with a mechanical engineering background working within the cement manufacturing industries. Ashley has 30 years of international experience including Southeast Asia, Africa, and Europe for multinational organizations such as Blue Circle Cement and Lafarge. Functioning in senior operational roles ranging from Cement Plant Manager, Industrial Director, and Managing Director, Ashley has efficiently managed large teams through a significant change from large-scale industrial projects to mergers and acquisitions. Ashley is also experienced in creating and leading high-performing operational teams where responsibilities have ranged from operations, projects, logistics, HR, and people development. Burning of waste in the cement industry has played a major role in Ashley’s career with multiple projects under his belt often dealing with multiple streams simultaneously.

  • Osama Hamad

  • Michael Walleter

    Energy-efficient solutions for concrete cooling are a top priority of KTI’s agenda. Mr. Michael Walleter is responsible for elevating KTI’s product range to provide benefits for concrete producers both economic and ecological.

    Mr. Michael Walleter was appointed as Head of Sales and Board Member of family-owned KTI-Plersch Kältetechnik GmbH with effect of April 2019, responsible for global sales and market development.

    Graduated from Technical University of Munich, Germany, with a Master’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, he worked for several years in the automotive industry and as a management consultant before joining KTI in the beginning of 2017.

    Michael further holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, enabling him to advance refrigeration technology for concrete cooling and heating in close collaboration with KTI’s customers. Through designing cost-effective and energy-efficient solutions together with his team of engineers he constantly strives to provide sustainable solutions.

  • Raman Rangan

    KTI’s exclusive sales and manufacturing partner in Dubai, V.I.P. – Various Ice Products, is managed by Mr. Raman Rangan, he holds both a mechanical engineering degree and business management diploma.

    Raman has been responsible for developing and support of the KTI operation for the past 23 years throughout the Middle East and South Asia regions. For the past 6 to 7 years he has shifted his focus to energy conservation and plant efficiency while providing KTI customers with environmentally sustainable solutions.

    KTI has a world class manufacturing facility based in the Jebel Ali Free Zone which undertakes the manufacturing and testing of all products prior to installation.
