  • Lionel Lemay

    Sr. Vice President, Structures and Sustainability for the NRMCA

    Mr. Lemay is Sr. Vice President, Structures and Sustainability for the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association (NRMCA). He leads a team of professionals to offer building owners and design professionals cost effective, durable and sustainable concrete building solutions though communications, education, research, design assistance and codes and standards advocacy. He has written over 50 articles on concrete design and construction and is co-author of the McGraw-Hill book Insulating Concrete Forms for Residential Design and Construction and contributor for FEMA 320 Taking Shelter From the Storm: Building a Safe Room For Your Home or Small Business.

    Mr. Lemay is a Registered Professional Engineer and Structural Engineer in the State of Illinois. He is also a LEED Accredited Professional. He is a member of the American Concrete Institute (ACI) and serves on the ACI concrete sustainability and residential concrete committees. He is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and serves as a member of the ASCE Structural Engineering Institute Sustainability Committee. Mr. Lemay holds a bachelors and masters degree in civil engineering and applied mechanics from McGill University in Montreal, Canada.

  • Dr. Nesibe Gözde Özerkan

    Associate Researcher in Center for Advanced Materials in Qatar University

    Dr. Nesibe Gözde Özerkan is Associate Researcher in Center for Advanced Materials in Qatar University. She received her B.S. in Civil Engineering from the Cukurova University, Turkey, in 2002. She received her M.S. in January 2006 and Ph.D. in October 2009 from Middle East Technical University, Turkey, both in Civil Engineering. She worked as a graduate teaching and research assistant in the Civil Engineering Department at Middle East Technical University from September 2003 until March 2009. She joined Center of Advanced Materials at Qatar University in September 2009 as a postdoctoral fellow. In 2011, she started to work as a Associate Researcher/Assistant Professor in the same department. She has extensive experience in mechanics of construction materials, nondestructive evaluation techniques, material science, image processing, construction materials testing procedures, life cycle assessment and recycling. In Center for Advanced Materials, she seeks to develop an environmentally friendly, high performance green concrete that enhances the durability and sustainability of construction.

  • Dr. Christopher Drew

    Director of Sustainability, Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture

    Dr. Christopher Drew is an internationally awarded Environmental Scientist and Sustainability Manager. He brings an understanding of the built environment with the natural environment and urban ecosystems through almost 20 years working as an environmental specialist. Dr. Drew contributes to AS+GG projects through establishing the sustainable design vision, goals and targets and then working closely with the architecture team and sub‐consultants to develop appropriate implementation strategies. He has supported all of AS+GG most significant projects and helped the firm to win numerous environmental design awards. Prior to joining AS+GG in 2009, Dr. Drew was the Department Manager for Sustainability at Masdar City, Abu Dhabi, a project which is still considered to be the most sustainable large community development project in the world. Prior to that he was the environment and sustainability manager for the Abu Dhabi Airport Expansion Program – at the time the largest airport project in the world.

  • Wilko van der Meer

    Managing Director of Doka Concremote

    Mr. Wilko van der Meer is the managing director of Doka Concremote and the managing director and co-owner of BAS Research & Technology. With over a decade of experience in the concrete industry, Mr. van der Meer completed his bachelor’s degree in business economics from the Fontys University of Applied Sciences, Eindhoven, Netherlands and held board positions in various companies that operate in the areas of FMCG, pharmaceuticals and telecommunications. In his capacity as Doka Concremote’s managing director, Mr. van der Meer oversees the development and industry integration of Concremote, a remote in-place concrete sensor that yields real-time information on compressive strength build-up and hydration temperature evolution, helping to expedite concrete operations, while offering significant cost savings. Mr. van der Meer also is co-owner of BAS Research & Technology, a company specializing in optimizing concrete mix-designs for durability and sustainability, old age concrete degradation expertise and research and development of construction materials and their material properties. BAS is an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited research center with branches in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany.

  • Marc Plancon

    Concrete Business Unit Deputy Director for CHRYSO Group

    Mr. Plancon is the Concrete Business Unit Deputy Director for CHRYSO Group, with over 20 years of experience in developing and deploying innovative solutions for the construction industry. He did the marketing of Specialty Products for Lafarge & Vinci with very solid experience as the Managing Director for CHRYSO INC (USA), Central Europe and North America. Prior to this, he supported CHRYSO concrete business development throughout over 70 countries.

    He earned his Masters Degree in Business and Industrial Marketing from the Institut Européen d'Administration des Affaires (European Institute for Business Administration), better known as INSEAD. Mr Plancon is a member of NPCA, PC, ACI, SPCHB and the like professional associations over the years.

    His notable credentials, inspire him to expand understanding through multiple conferences like NPCA, SCC International Conference, ITB, ICCX, etc.

  • Subramanian Sivaramakrishnan

    Country Manager - Qatar of Grey Matters

    Subramanian Sivaramakrishnan is the Country Manager - Qatar of Grey Matters. He is a Civil Engineer, a Certified Concrete Professional Middle East, Certified Concrete Technologist and Certified Plant Manager by NRMCA. He is also a NRMCA approved Inspecting Engineer for Concrete Production facilities certification; NRMCA approved Trainer and Examiner in Middle East.
    Subramanian has extensive experience of more than 14 years in Quality Assurance, Quality Control and Technical Coordination of Large scale Construction Projects and Ready Mixed Concrete Operations.
    Subramanian also has expertise in Consultancy, Training, Design and Production of Special Concretes like SCC, HPC, Pervious Concrete and Light weight Concrete etc., He has trained more than 200 technicians on testing of Raw materials for Concrete and Concrete.
    Before joining Grey Matters he worked with Larsen & Toubro Ready Mixed Concrete Industries, UAE as Technical Manager where he was also involved in Setting up and Managing the on-site Batching Plants and Site Laboratory for Large Scale Construction Projects.

  • Jens Fussing

    Technical Director BG&E

    Jens has over 24 years’ experience in the design and documentation of a wide range of structures throughout 24 countries, from seismic retrofit in Nepal and Iran, Towers in Europe, Africa and in the Middle East, Sports Stadiums in Azerbaijan, Multi Arenas in Europe to large scale commercial and residential developments in the GCC countries.

    Jens has particular expertise in high-rise structures, precast building systems and building physics. Jens has experience with examining as well as mentoring master and PhD students at university level in relation to research and development projects.
